Med-CORDEX phase 3: Marine Biogeochemical Dynamics

The maturity of coordination around physical modeling and the general improvement in simulating the dynamics of the Mediterranean Sea are such that it is now possible to increase the complexity by adding the simulation of marine ecosystems dynamics. This is all the more relevant given that the Mediterranean Sea is characterized by a large diversity of processes and biotopes. In this context, the biogeochemistry modeling community of the Mediterranean Sea is currently gathering within the Med-CORDEX initiative to build a common modeling effort to address gaps and sources of uncertainties (boundary conditions, parametrizations, description of functional groups) in biogeochemical projections for the basin under different emission scenarios.
