Med-CORDEX phase 3: Free Modelling Zone (FMZ)

Med-CORDEX has always been a laboratory for new ideas in regional climate modelling, being in particular at the origin of the FPS-convection, FPS-aerosols and FPS-airsea. This is due to the will to always push the limits of the currently-established protocols, test new ideas and different approaches to model regional climate in a complex area such as the Mediterranean basin. All those activities, largely uncoordinated, have been gathered in the so-called Free Modelling Zone (FMZ), a modelling pillar established during the Phase 2. The goal of this FMZ is to reinforce the current modelling protocols by testing their robustness but also to suggest future Med-CORDEX and CORDEX activities.
